About Us... Our History
In the 1930's a Baptist missions outreach south of Huntsville by Rev. Alf Bell launched both the Muskoka Baptist Camp on Mary Lake and the Brunel Baptist Church on Britannia Rd. Pastor Jack Adams came in 1945 and the church grew rapidly with many conversions. Under his leadership the church relocated and was constituted on August 2, 1951 as Lock's Baptist Church.

It was Rev. Bill Piper's vision that led the Lock's Baptist to purchase the present 5 acres property at the corner of Brunel Road and Riverside Drive.  Our current building was erected and dedicated in 1970 under the leadership of the energetic Dr. C. B. Hayden.  The church has experienced the usual ups and downs over the decades but was sustained by the faithfulness of God and the commitment of a small core of wonderful people.

Pastor Brubacher arrived in 2002 and the church enjoyed much growth in the church family and outreach ministries. He led the church through a building project in January 2009 with a new foyer/offices addition. This made more room for church fellowship and ministry expansion.

Pastor Shannon McConnell joined the leadership as Riverside's first assistant pastor in June, 2008. His vision was key in building up a vibrant ministry for Young Adults and Young Families. Pastor McConnell has since moved into church planting ministries.

To the glory of God, Riverside is a vehicle of ministry in the Huntsville community. We are committed to a balanced, family-friendly experience for a mix of all age groups. Over the years as the leadership and the community changes, God has showed Himself strong at Riverside. We are once again positioned to continue growing both in numbers and in ministry for years to come.
