Pastor Don was born into a godly Christian home in the
Kitchener area. He accepted Jesus Christ as his
personal Saviour at the age of 7 and was baptized in
Puslinch Lake at the age of 12. His spiritual life
developed through his high school years while attending
Temple Baptist Church in Cambridge.
After graduation from Ryerson
Polytechnical Institute with an Electronic Technology
diploma, he married Zala (Tierney) and settled in
Goderich. While working at a factory, they served
in the lay ministry at Calvary Baptist Church for 8
years under the pastoral leadership of his father,
Reuben.
When the Lord gave a clear call to the
Pastoral Ministry, they sold their home, leaving friends
and security, and enrolled at London Baptist Bible
College. He graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of
Theology degree. That same spring he was ordained
into the Baptist ministry by Victory Heights Baptist
Church.
Pastor Don served faithfully as senior
pastor at Victory Heights Baptist in London, Shenstone
Baptist in Brantford and Calvary Baptist in Oakville
before accepting the call to Riverside Baptist in
Huntsville in November 2002.
Pastor Brubacher arrived in 2002 and the church enjoyed
much growth in the church family and outreach
ministries. He led the church through a building project
in January 2009 with a new foyer/offices addition. This
made more room for church fellowship and ministry
expansion.
On a personal note, Pastor Don and
Zala have two married sons, both serving the Lord, six
precious grandchildren, a cat and a dog. They love
their home in the bush, canoeing, and the change of the
seasons. |
Pastor Shannon grew up in a first generation Christian
home in Bailieboro, Ontario. He praises God for
the energy and sacrifice of his parents in striving to
create an atmosphere where he could truly meet the Jesus
that they themselves had not known until they were young adults.
It was during his early journey that God
put into his heart a real passion for ministry.
After humbly realizing that God has made a place in His
plan for him his heart was changed from loving ministry
to loving the people through ministry. This was
when he sensed His calling on his life.
During pastoral studies at Tyndale
University College in Toronto he met the love of his
life, Melissa (Barber). They were married at Muskoka Bible
Conference Centre on May 8, 2004 and have since been
blessed with two gorgeous daughters.
Pastor Shannon is passionate about the
calling to pastor, or "shepherd" people toward a true
relationship with the Living God. His vision in
ministry is to help people know what it looks like to
live a life of worship toward our worthy God, and then
empower and encourage them to do so.
He feels honoured and blessed to be
part of the warm, growing and passionate Family here at
Riverside.
